Step numbers
The# button in the header shows and hides the numbering. Shortcut: N.
Which steps get a number
In the Step number settings dropdown, under Show:
Shortcut to cycle through the three:
Shift + N.
How they are counted
Under Counting:
In the dropdown’s own words: “Individual: counts every step. Combined: counts
each rise or fall as 1.”
Shortcut:
Shift + M.
While a protocol is active, its reading takes the place of the step numbers
and the button is disabled, saying so.
Count dividers
A divider is a mark saying where the numbering starts over. Useful when the signal repeats a cycle and you want to count within each pass, not from the beginning of the project.- The divider button in the header enters placement mode: you pick the step where the mark goes. Pressing it again cancels.
- Shortcut:
M, which places the divider on the selection. - Each channel can show or hide its dividers from its gear (Count Div.).
Repetition dividers
When you repeat a channel’s signal, two traces are left:- A divider line at every cut between repetitions.
- A count label —
R1,R2,2R3…— over each repeated stretch.
Shift + D.
The labels only appear if you ticked Show repetition count when repeating. The
same checkbox is in the Paste window.
Labels
A label is a name and a color applied to a continuous stretch of steps on a channel.1
Select the stretch
By dragging over the channel, or with the keyboard.

The field suggests examples:
CLK, DATA, SYNC. The colors are the same
six as the signals.L labels the selected span.
Showing and hiding them
The label button in the header has two states:- Show all labels: every one is drawn, even if they overlap.
- Hide labels (auto): the ones that do not fit at the current zoom are hidden.
T. The default state is set in General Settings (Show labels), and
each mode keeps its own.
